11 Feb SUSANNE CHRISTENSEN, KROKODIL’ S AUTHOR IN RESIDENCE, SHORTLISTED FOR THE NORWEGIAN’S CRITICS PRIZE FOR LITERATURE (KRITIKERPRISENE FOR LITTERATUR) ALONGSIDE JUAN FOSE AND KARL OVE KNAUSGÅRD!
We are proud to announce that Susanne Christensen, who stayed at KROKODIL’s writers’ residency during October/November 2025, has been shortlisted for the most prestigious Norwegian literature prize! Her debut novel “Swallows Sleep on the Moon” (Svalene sover på månen) has been nominated, and her competitors include well-known authors Karl Ove Knausgård and Juan Fose. In the official statement from the Norwegian critics, her work is described as “an atypical and innovative debut novel that breaks out of typical genre boundaries,” dealing with themes of “vulnerability and utopia, in which humans are not the center of the ecosystem.”
Although we know the competition is very strong, we wholeheartedly cheer for Susanne and her novel, eagerly awaiting the award announcement!
Susanne is a Danish-Norwegian literary critic and essayist, and recently a novelist. For more than fifteen years she wrote literary criticism for the Norwegian newspapers Klassekampen and Morgenbladet. In 2011 she was named Critic of the Year. During her stay at KROKODIL’s residency she also shared her knowledge with Belgrade students of Scandinavian studies in workshops on translation and literary criticism.
We will continue to follow not only the results of the Norwegian Critics’ Prize but also Susanne’s future work with interest, and we wish her every success in her continued writing!
