The evening program of the festival on 16th and 17th June will traditionally be held in the amphitheater in front of the Museum of Yugoslavia (Boti\u0107eva 6), while the daily-debate program<span lang=\"\">s<\/span> <span lang=\"\">are<\/span> scheduled for 17th and 18th June at Center for Cultural Decontamination (Bir\u010daninova 21).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" name=\"docs-internal-guid-19a7a562-3ec2-33be-64\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">At this year\u2019s festival, the audience will have the opportunity to see famous Norwegian writer <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Erlend Loe<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, a favorite of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">the <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">local <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">literary audience<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">. Thanks to the recognizable ironic literary style, Erlend Loe has in a very short period become a cult Norwegian writer, as well as one of the most recognizable European authors today, with his books being translated to more than twenty languages.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" name=\"docs-internal-guid-19a7a562-3ec3-2580-81\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">From Prague, for the first sofa-interview of the KROKODIL Festival, we will host Lordan Zafranovi\u0107, one of the most controversial and provocative <span lang=\"\">film <\/span>directors of the famous Prague school.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">On the second festival night, also as part of the sofa-interview, we will talk to another <span lang=\"\">film <\/span>director whose work is closely connected to the Prague film school, Sr\u0111an Karanovi\u0107, about this work on film and television.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\nAt this year&#8217;s festival KROKODIL, we will present the writer and peace activist<b> Svetlana Slap\u0161ak,<\/b> winner of this year&#8217;s Vital award for her novel Ravnote\u017ea. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Recognized <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">novelist<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> and drama<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">tist<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Slobodan \u0160najder<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> will be reading from his latest novel <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>Doba mjedi<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, a great saga about the fate of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>Volksdeutsch<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> community<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">in the former Yugoslavia, for whom in 2016 he received the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">most important<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> regional <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">literary <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">award Me\u0161a Selimovi\u0107.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Ivan Ivanji, <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">who spent more than twenty years as a translator for German to Josip Broz Tito, will read from his latest novel <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Moj lepi \u017eivot u paklu<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, in which he reflects on his life that began almost nine decades ago in then Be\u010dkerek and the experience he <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">had<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> as a sixteen year old Jewish boy from the death camp <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Buchenwald<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The novel <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Pjeva\u010d u no\u0107i<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, a sophisticated love story, at the same time a serious critique of all our fascism<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">s<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> and fear of freedom, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">is written by<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> award winning prose author and poet Olja Savi\u010devi\u0107 Ivan\u010devi\u0107, another participant of this year&#8217;s festival KROKODIL. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">This novel is<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> recently published in Serbia. The author will present this work as well as her poetic collection Mamasafari.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Lamija Begagi\u0107 <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">is one of the most renowned young authors from Bosnia and Herzegovina. At this year&#8217;s festival KROKODIL she will present her first novel <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>U zoni<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, a story about the life of a professional sportswoman who <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">ends<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> her career at the age of 35 and the new world she tries to create around her and in her. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Zoran Feri\u0107<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> will be reading from this novel <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Na osami pored mora <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">that deals with maturation and eroticism of the adulthood of Yugoslav hedonistic socialism. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">Feric&#8217;s<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> latest novel in Serbia is published by the publishing house Booka.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">As part of this year&#8217;s festival, we will also present the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">book<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Ogledala Lune<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">about one of the most significant bands of early 80s, which is finally giving <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">this music <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">band<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> its well deserved position. Apart from Slobodan Ti\u0161ma, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">front-man<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> of the band and singer, writer and NIN Award winner, its authors Goran Tarla\u0107, Predrag Buca Popovi\u0107 and Sa\u0161a Rakezi\u0107 <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">will also talk <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">about the book. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">As part of the interesting lecture, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Aleksandar Zograf <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">will take us through the world of small discoveries (<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i><b>Mala otkri\u0107a<\/b><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">) which is the title of his latest collection of short, poetic and documentary comics he regularly draws in the form of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">comic art columns<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> for the magazine Vreme.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We will take a look back at the work of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Biljana Jovanovi\u0107,<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> one of the pioneers of feminist Yugoslav literature of the seventies and her <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"\">recently <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">republished cult novels <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Pada Avala <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Psi i ostali.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><b>KROKODIL&#8217;s residence program for writers<\/b> has beeen active since 2012 and so far has hosted 55 writers from eighteen countries. <span lang=\"\">Through<\/span> a conversation with our current guest on the residency, a young Croatian author <b>Sven Popovi\u0107<\/b>, we will focus on the importance of this program for the continuous cultural exchange within the region but also the whole Europe.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Besides the sofa-interviews, performances, readings, as well as musical and acting performances, festival KROKODIL will again this year organize various debates during which we will deal with the most current socio-political topics from the perspective of arts and culture. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>The debate program will be held on 17<\/b><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>th<\/b><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b> and 18<\/b><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>th<\/b><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b> June at Center for Cultural Decontamination in Belgrade. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">For the third <span lang=\"\">consecutive <\/span>year, the festival has a humanitarian character as well. Friend of this year&#8217;s KROKODIL is <b>Hemofarm foundation<\/b>, <span lang=\"\">with whom<\/span> we teamed up in 2016 <span lang=\"\">regarding<\/span> the project <b>PRODU\u017dI \u017dIVOT<\/b>, with the goal of raising awareness of the public o<span lang=\"\">f the importance of<\/span> transplantation and donation of organs.
