In November, the situation is completely different: we\u2019re returning to one of the most important Balkan authors with one unequivocal question: \u201cWhy wouldn\u2019t we dismantle him?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On November 10th at 7pm we\u2019re inviting you to join us in our debate \u201cThe Autopsy of Andri\u0107\u201d, together with Svetislav Basara, Tomislav Longinovi\u0107 and, our moderator, Mirjana Sto\u0161i\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What are the parts of Andri\u0107\u2019s literary-biographical heritage we don\u2019t really like talking about and why wouldn\u2019t we put them in the spotlight? What will be left once we deconstruct our Nobel Prize winner? And can someone please explain how come that only in the Balkans wars are based on books and not the other way around?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his new book \u201cKontraendorfin\u201d, author Svetislav Basara disentangles Serbian myths, paying special attention to Ivo Andri\u0107, some of the many historical and biographical controversies following his life, as well as all the connotations that go hand in hand with the deadly Balkan mentality and a allconsuming ideological ecstasy and nationalist megalomany. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Basara will be joined by Tomislav Longinovi\u0107, professor of Slavic and comparative literature at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and leading expert on the field of Andri\u0107. As our moderator, we are glad to be joined once again with Mirjana Sto\u0161i\u0107, professor at the Faculty of Media and Communication, media theoretician, and host of the earlier debate \u201cThe Dismantlement of Andri\u0107\u201d with German journalist Michael Martens and Croatian author Neboj\u0161a Longinovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
