On Thursday, July 29, at KROKODIL’s Center we will be presenting two authors staying at KROKODIL’s Writer-in-residence in July – translator and writer Ma\u0161a Dabi\u0107 from Austria and poet Alex V\u0103sie\u0219 from Romania. Moderators will be translator \u0110or\u0111e Tri\u0161ovi\u0107, who will talk to Ma\u0161a, and translator \u0110ura Mio\u010dinovi\u0107, who will talk to Alex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex V\u0103sie\u0219 was born in 1993, in Bistri\u021ba. His first collection of poems, head butt was published in 2012 by Casa de Pariuri Literare. In 2016, he published two volumes: The Installation (Cartea Rom\u00e2neasc\u0103)<\/em>, for which he received the “Young Poet of the Year 2016 Award” and Oana V\u0103sie\u0219 (Charmides)<\/em>. Selections of his poems were translated to German, English, Greek, Hungarian and Italian. He has translated several books (written by authors such as Alice Notley, Chuck <\/p>\n\n\n\n Ma\u0161a Dabi\u0107 was born in 1981 in Sarajevo, and she lives and works in Vienna, where she teaches oral translation from Russian into German at the University. So far, she has translated ten novels from the common language into German, by authors such as Svetislav Basara, Barbi Markovi\u0107, Zlatko Pakovi\u0107 and others. In addition, she translates short stories, essays, plays and poetry, and is also engaged in simultaneous translation and journalism. With her debut novel Gubici trenjem<\/em> (Tre\u0107i trg, 2021), she was shortlisted for the Austrian Book Award in 2017. In 2018, she received the City of Vienna Award for the promotion of literature.
