Moderator: Bojan Babi\u0107<br>Wednesday, September 28, 7pm<br>KROKODIL&#8217;s Center, Kara\u0111or\u0111eva 43<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-orange-color has-black-background-color has-text-color has-background\">On Wednesday, September 28, starting at 7 pm, at an event in KROKODIL&#8217;s Center, we will present the Macedonian writer and translator Ivan \u0160opov, who is staying at KROKODIL&#8217;s Writer-in-residence during the month of September. The talk will be moderated by writer Bojan Babi\u0107, whose novel &#8220;Ilegalni Parnas&#8221; was recently translated into Macedonian by Ivan \u0160opov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ivan \u0160opov <\/strong>was born in Skopje, 1987 and graduated General and Comparative Literature at the \u201cSs. Cyril and Methodius\u201d University in his hometown. <br>He is author of the books &#8220;An Alphabet and Notes Gone Astray&#8221; [\u0410\u0437\u0431\u0443\u043a\u0430 \u0438 \u0437\u0430\u043b\u0443\u0442\u0430\u043d\u0438 \u0437\u0430\u043f\u0438\u0441\u0438] (short stories, 2010), for which he received the award &#8220;Novite!&#8221; for best debut prose, &#8220;Belly of the Year&#8221; [\u041c\u0435\u0448\u0435 \u043d\u0430 \u0433\u043e\u0434\u0438\u043d\u0430\u0442\u0430] (poems in prose, 2012), &#8220;The Chronicles of Arslan Dailey&#8221; [\u0425\u0440\u043e\u043d\u0438\u043a\u0438\u0442\u0435 \u043d\u0430 \u0410\u0440\u0441\u043b\u0430\u043d \u041d\u043e\u0432\u0438\u043d\u0430\u0440\u0441\u043a\u0438] (satirical articles, 2018), &#8220;Skopje: the Lost Shoes of the City&#8221; [\u0421\u043a\u043e\u043f\u0458\u0435: \u0438\u0437\u0433\u0443\u0431\u0435\u043d\u0438\u0442\u0435 \u0447\u0435\u0432\u043b\u0438 \u043d\u0430 \u0433\u0440\u0430\u0434\u043e\u0442] (short stories, 2020). He also writes poetry and haiku. His poems and short stories have been translated into several languages: English, Serbian, Croatian, Albanian, Slovenian, Bulgarian, Czech, Greek, Romanian and German. <br>He translated books by Ambrose Bierce, Madeleine Thien, Roman Kissiov, Mikhail Veshim, Miroslav Krle\u017ea, Bojan Babi\u0107, Asja Baki\u0107, Dragoslav Mihailovi\u0107, Irena Vrkljan, Zvonko Karanovi\u0107, Martha Nussbaum and others into Macedonian. <br>In the period from 2012 to 2018 he worked as an editor in the publishing house Templum and on the internet portal Okno. <br>He was part of the organizing team of the literary festivals &#8220;Another Story&#8221; [\u0414\u0440\u0443\u0433\u0430 \u043f\u0440\u0438\u043a\u0430\u0437\u043d\u0430] and &#8220;ArtArea&#8221;. He is one of the founders of the coffee-bookshop &#8220;Bukva&#8221; in Skopje and the mobile cultural center &#8220;KC 750&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ivan \u0160opov&#8217;s stay at KROKODIL&#8217;s Writer-in-residence is supported by the European literary network Traduki.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Talk with Ivan \u0160opov.
