Experience the smorgasbord!  On Saturday, March 6th at 11am, KROKODIL’s first Eat&Talk of 2021,  the mouthpiece of a wider program entitled Sweden in Residence, is about to take you on a culinary-literary voyage through Sweden. Join theater director Anja Suša and Milica Joksimović from the KROKODIL Association, in a conversation about Swedish literature, culture and everyday life. At the same time, we will introduce the works of three notable contemporary Swedish authors whose books were translated and published in Serbia – Lena Andersson, Sara Stridsberg and Agnes Lidbeck. During the event, the audience will have the opportunity to satisfy not only literary, but also culinary appetites with specialties from our vegan buffet prepared by the Embassy of Sweden’s own cook, Lars Ekberg. The ambassador of Sweden in Serbia, His Excellency Jan Lundin will also participate in the event, and will share additional insights about the uniqueness of traditional and contemporary cuisine of this country.

All guests will receive a special booklet with the program, interesting facts and information about the particular aspects of Sweden’s culture, cuisine and literature we decided to introduce within this program, as well as a special QR code which lead to a locked playlist of music from this part of the world, which we collected with the help of musical connoisseurs.

What can you expect on the smorgasbord?

When we think of Swedish cuisine, the first thing that often comes to mind is Smörgåsbord, colloquially known as a buffet, which gained global popularity at the 1939. World Fair in New York.

What’s interesting is that the vegetarian and vegan boom also took hold of Sweden and influenced every aspect of its cuisine. In Sweden every fifth person under the age of 30 doesn’t eat meat, while 50% of the population is interested in the vegan diet. In that name, March’s Eat&Talk  will focus on vegan culture, and our buffet will be filled with exquisite meat-free specialties without a pinch of animal products. Join us and enjoy vegan meatballs, hashbrowns, sauces, sweets, and experience the authentic tastes of Sweden in the center of Belgrade.

Want more Sweden?

After the Eat&Talk program, during the month of March, the KROKODIL Center will be the central place of a new program entitled Sweden in Residence, which gathers Swedish literature, cuisine and culture in one space. The program consists of four different and unique events scheduled on four Saturdays in March. In addition, during the entire month, both in the KROKODIL Center and through Wolt and Donesi delivery apps, a specially created Eat&Read menu will be available, offering the tastes of traditional Swedish cuisine which are, even in Sweden, rare and offered only in a few selected restaurants. See you on Saturday, March 6th at 11am and experience KROKODIL Center’s authentic Swedish buffet on our favorite event – Eat&Talk.
