Yesterday we presented KROKODIL’s Residency to representatives of foreign embassies, cultural institutions, and chambers of commerce, seeking to spread awareness about its invaluable work and find tangible opportunities for cooperation that would secure the long term sustainability of this important program that is currently facing a significant challenge.

Founded in 2012, KROKODILs RESIDENCY is the first residency program in Serbia and the region dedicated primarily to writers, translators, and other literary creators. Over 13 years, it has hosted 148 leading figures from across Europe—including Austria, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Malta, Germany, the UK, Spain, Greece, Denmark, Norway, Ukraine, and more—and has organized over 520 programs such as readings, discussions, and workshops.
As the first and longest-standing residency program in Serbia and the Western Balkans/Southeast Europe, it is now facing closure.
