20 Oct Book promotion of “ABC of War” by Eugen Stepanenko and a panel discussion on the suffering of children in the Ukraine war
We invite you to the book promotion of “ABC of War” by Eugen Stepanenko and panel discussion on the suffering of children in the Ukraine war, taking place on Wednesday, October 29th at 7 PM at the Krokodil Center.
What does war look like from a child’s perspective?
“ABC of War” is a book of letters by Father Eugen, who was in the war, and his daughter Solomija, who was living in Kyiv at the time.
When they started writing letters in 2014, her father was on the front lines in Donbas, and Solomija was so young that she marked the dates in the letters with letters instead of numbers.
How do you talk to children about the horrific experience of war?
Perhaps one possibility is what Solomija and Eugen did together—they compiled exchanged letters, messages, and videos into a book, which we will discuss on Wednesday, October 29.
And the book became even more significant after the Russian invasion in 2022.
If you’re interested in how the perspectives of a child and a father on the front lines shape the book, you can learn more firsthand from the author, Eugen Stepanenko.
The conversation will feature Kristijan Lepešić, Miso Nejašmić, and Simona Goldstein from the Institute for Democracy in Zagreb, Eugen Stepanenko, and Vladimir Arsenijević.
