Translation in Motion: Open Call for Literary Translation Residencies 2022

Translation in Motion: Open Call for Literary Translation Residencies 2022

Association KROKODIL invites literary translators working from the common language (BCMS) into any language of the European Union to apply for a one-month residency in Belgrade, Serbia as part of the project Translation in Motion.

Application deadline is March 30th 2022.

The residencies offer translators time for focused creative work on a literary translation project, the opportunity to immerse themselves in the source language of their translation and carry out research, and to raise their visibility by networking with the local literary sector and presenting their work to local audiences.

Eligibility

We welcome translators working from the common language (BCMS) into the languages of the European Union. Eligible translators should be citizens of the European Union.

General conditions

During their residency, translators are expected to work intensively on the literary translation project with which they applied for the programme, to take part in events or activities of the host organization, and to network with colleagues and with other residents.

Аssociation KROKODIL offers free accommodation, a travel grant of up to 300EUR and a monthly fellowship to cover living expenses of 1000EUR gross.

Application and Selection

Applications for residencies taking place in October and November 2022 should be submitted by March 30 2022.

Candidates are invited to send a letter of interest outlining their reasons for applying for the residency, a description of their literary translation project and a CV to the email prijave@krokodil.rs.

The Steering Committee of the Translation in Motion consortium will make the selection and announce results by April 15 2022.

In the light of COVID-19, all residency arrangements are subject to change in case of COVID restrictions. For specific measures applied by the host countries consult the relevant government guidelines.
