Grug Muse – 111th KROKODIL’s Writer-in-residence Guest

From April 10 to 20, the KROKODIL’s Writer-in-residence will serve as a home and work base for its 111th guest, poet and essayist Grug Muse. Follow the KROKODIL website and social media regularly for information about a special event that will be dedicated to this young author and her work.

Grug Muse is a Welsh-language poet and essayist, editor, performer and researcher from Gwynedd in North Wales. She studied politics at the University of Nottingham and in the Czech Republic. She is one of the editors and founders of Y Stamp literary magazine. Her first volume of poetry Ar Ddisberod (Barddas, 2017) was followed by pamphlet Llanw + Gorwel (annibynnol, 2019). Her work is published in both Welsh and English language publications such as O’r Pedwar Gwynt, Poetry Wales, Panorama: the journal of intelligent travel, and in anthologies such as When they start to love you as a machine you should run (New River Press, 2019), Cheval 11 (Parthian, 2018) and Cyfrol Gŵyl y Ferch (Gŵyl y Ferch, 2019). Her most recent poetry collection, merch y llyn, was published in 2021 by Cyhoeddiadau’r Stamp. Her work explores themes of ecology and place, and feminist themes. She is currently working on a PhD on Welsh travel writing written about Latin America.

Grug Muse’s stay at KROKODIL’s Writer-in-residence is realized through the project Ulysses’ Shelter. Literary residences Ulysses’ Shelter take place as part of the second phase of the project of the same name (2019-2022), which is co-financed through the European Comission’s Creative Europe Program – Culture sub-program. In its second phase, the network of literary residencies includes a total of five countries – Croatia, Greece, Slovenia, Serbia and the United Kingdom (Wales). Project Ulysses’ Shelter and the residence network as its focal point focus on authors and literary translators of the younger generation.
