Open call for local initiatives, associations, civil society organizations, citizen groups, and individuals to apply for participation in the project Spaces of Freedom: Strengthening Local Initiatives Program

Association KROKODIL is inviting all interested civic and local initiatives, civil society organizations, citizen groups, associations, activists and individuals, who actively change their community and contribute to the development of a democratic and better society through the implementation of various activities, to apply for an open call within the project Spaces of Freedom: Strengthening Local Initiatives Program.

The goal of the Spaces of Freedom project is to offer a unique platform for all natural and legal persons that need to develop and strengthen their capacities, as well as to provide physical space and technical support for meetings, public events, promotions, workshops, and other activities. Association KROKODIL will select up to 25 organizations and/or individuals from all over Serbia who, in addition to using the space for holding meetings, workshops, and public events, will also attend training and workshops in the period defined by the timeframe of the project. Through working on concrete examples and getting acquainted with various successful practices, training and workshops will serve for acquiring practical knowledge and skills necessary for the work and implementation of activities.

Thematic areas of training are divided into 4 segments:

  1. Organizational development and amending legislation (strategic planning, strengthening skills and getting acquainted with tools that are crucial for initiating changes in law and legislation)
  2. Programmatic capacities (project writing, program design, monitoring and evaluation) 
  3. Communication capacities and PR (public relations skills, communication strategies)
  4. Advocacy and networking capacities (public advocacy and networking skills in processes that help change public policies)

The open call is intended for all citizen groups, civil society organizations, associations, local initiatives that are non-partisan and non-profit, as well as for individuals, that carry out their activities on the territory of the Republic of Serbia and deal with the above-mentioned topics. The Spaces of Freedom project will support a maximum of 25 successful applicants.

The general objective of the open call is to empower local civil society organizations, citizen associations, citizen initiatives, citizen groups, activists, and individuals, to realize their goals and missions, as well as to raise and improve the visibility of their activities in the promotion and development of democratic values, human, minority and children’s rights, healthier environment, multiculturalism, cultural dialogue, international and regional cooperation, etc.

The specific objective of the open call is to provide support to associations, civil society organizations, local civic initiatives, citizen groups, and individuals in further development and capacity building to increase and strengthen the involvement of the public and citizens in advocacy and decision-making processes, democratization processes, human rights struggles, impact on public policy making, and promotion of cultural diversity and regional cooperation. 

The deadline for submissions is December 10, 2022. The results will be announced on December 15, 2022, after which the selected applicants will be provided with a schedule of training, workshops and available time slots for the usage of the KROKODIL’s Center space.
